BSC
Barcelona Supercomputing Center - National Supercomputing Center (BSC) houses the MareNostrum supercomputer.
BSC is the leading supercomputing center in Spain and specializes in high performance computing. Its mission is twofold: to offer supercomputing infrastructure and services to European scientists and to generate knowledge and technology that can be applied for the benefit of society.
BSC is a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence and first-rate host member of the European research infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe). BSC also manages the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES).
The consortium managed by BSC is made up of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (60% participation); the Department of Economy and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya (30%) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia-BarcelonaTech (10%).
BSC is a leading R&D agency with a group dedicated to geophysics. It specializes in the transfer of knowledge using high-performance software of its own creation and adapted to the needs of the industry.
BSC is in the top 10 of Spanish institutions most financed by EU H2020 projects and is the first in income per researcher. He currently leads the HPC4E project and participates in MATHROCKS, both active and thematically related to this project.
